I'm Waseem Abuaglain, and my heart aches as I reach out to you. The world my family knew in Gaza has been shattered, and we urgently need your help to simply survive.

Our family home in Shaikh Radwan, a place my father poured his life into building, now stands with ravaged walls charred, pillars broken, windows and doors gone. My three sisters' houses in Tel Al-Hawa and Khan Younis, each a treasure trove of dreams and memories, have been utterly erased. Every ounce of their life savings, invested in these homes, has been reduced to rubble, leaving our family adrift in despair.

Imagine my parents, 73 and 81, forced to flee with three brothers and their families, including fourteen frightened children. The terror intensified with unimaginable loss. My young nephews, Ramzy and Khaled, seeking only safety, tragically lost their lives. Then, the agony deepened for my sister, who had already buried her son, when her husband was killed while selflessly trying to help displaced people as a school director.

The devastation didn't stop there. My cousin Rafea, his wife, and their three children were taken from us within the supposed safety of their home in Al Zaytoun. My aunt perished in her sleep when a massive piece of concrete from a rocket-struck apartment above crushed her. And in Shejaiya, a horror beyond words unfolded: my cousin Samira and her entire extended family – 28 souls – were tragically wiped out.

Gaza's health system is now in ruins, over 80% destroyed. We're facing deliberate starvation; aid deliveries have been halted since March 2nd. UNICEF and WHO warn that without immediate intervention, more children will die, and up to 71,000 children under five could suffer from acute malnutrition in the coming year alone.

The relentless fear continues to hound my sisters in Khan Younis as Israeli military operations expand. And the mounting dread that it will soon reach Shaikh Radwan, so close to Jabalia, is palpable. My mother recently called, her voice trembling, telling me they haven't slept in two weeks, the thunder of heavy bombardment shaking their very core.

There's no way to sugarcoat this – the situation is desperate. But your support, no matter how small, can be a lifeline. We urgently need assistance for necessities: food, medicine, and safe accommodation. We need tents, mattresses, blankets, and essential clothing. Funds will also provide access to clean water, sustain food supplies, and establish cooking facilities – all to safeguard the well-being of these children who still deserve a chance at a brighter future. Our immediate goal is survival, then to rebuild our homes, and somehow, to reclaim a semblance of normal life. My resources are stretched thin; I cannot independently help so many during this horrific time.

The weight of this reality is unbearable, and time is running out. Your generosity can transform despair into desperately needed hope, helping us rebuild not just structures, but lives.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering our plea. Your kindness means the world to us.

Gratefully,

Waseem Abuaglain
